Dr. Cesar Parra spent years competing and winning awards as one of the world’s top riders. His specialty is dressage. Dr. Parra’s talents won him an array of medals in international competition. His resume is extensive and includes an individual Silver medal at the 2002 Central American Games and an individual Gold at the 1998 Central American Games. He was a member of the 2004 Olympic Team in Athens, and he competed on the gold medal team at the 2011 Pan American Games.

Dr. Parra is an international dressage trainer who hails from Colombia. He was one of Colombia’s finest riders for the majority of his career, but he always dreamed of competing for the United States of America.  He was proud to hear the Star Spangled Banner play for him in the Winner’s Circle after he gained American citizenship in 2008. Dr. Parra is overjoyed to now have the ability to represent the U.S. in international competition.

After spending extensive amounts of time on the competitive circuit, Dr. Parra founded Piaffe Performance Farms. With locations in both New Jersey and Florida, the center provides in-depth training to young riding students based on the Classic German Training Methods. The Classic German Training Methods are an important art that involves perfecting techniques such as relaxation, rhythm, contact, impulsion, straightness, and collection. After completely mastering one step, the rider advances to the next. This level of precision ensures the highest level of performance and success.

The education at Piaffe Performance Farms takes a two-part approach. Part one involves a tailored program for the horse and rider. The second part revolves around a team that communicates with the owner and service-providers to keep the animal at optimal health all the time.

With the help of his talented and devoted assistant trainers, Dr. Parra has coached the best and brightest young riders to dressage victory. Piaffe Performance Farms riders have earned over 11 medals in the NAJYRC, which is the premier equestrian competition in North America for riders ages 14-21. Dr. Parra and his team take great pride in this accomplishment.

The instruction at the facility is highly structured and focuses on getting each student to master the basics before moving on to more advanced techniques. Cesar Parra believes that a deep understanding of methods ensures the best long-term results for both horse and rider.

Dr. Parra’s facility is not just about dressage success. Piaffe Performance Farms is also founded on the ideas of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and strength of character. Piaffe Performance Farms focuses on total equine health for all animals. The facility offers total veterinary care (both routine and emergency visits), monthly equine massage, equine acupuncture, equine chiropractic treatments, an equine dentist, and weekly farrier visits.  These treatments ensure longevity and complete health for the horses.

The center offers a variety of services to aspiring riders. These services include:

• Lessons: Students can audit or participate in lessons. Instruction is always tailored to the individual needs of the horse and rider combination.
• Clinics: Dr. Parra is proud to offer clinics all over the United States and Canada. He also makes trips to Colombia and Argentina to offer instruction. During these intense educational experiences he teaches eager participants about the finer points of dressage.
• Horse health and care: Experienced doctors, chiropractors, acupuncturists, farriers, and other professionals offer constant care for the animals on-site.
• Grooming: Available on-site.
• Sales: Dr. Cesar Parra has successfully placed dozens of horses with the perfect rider for that individual animal.
• Buying: Dr. Parra regularly makes trips to Germany to buy horses for eager riders. These full-service trips aim to create a dynamic pairing between horse and rider.

The past year was an extremely successful one for the Piaffe Performance Farms team. The riders brought home a record-setting 73 blue ribbons and a hefty assortment of other ribbons too. The high scores and awards began at the start of the season and continued through the very last show. The precision, dedication, and drive demonstrated by the Piaffe Performance Farms riders was recognized by the judges, as many of the team members were dominant in their individual classes. Dr. Parra and his staff congratulate all of the riders on their success and hard work throughout the season. He and his staff have already planned another full season of competitions, and look forward to equally impressive results at these shows.
